That's exactly what Luke did. He wanted Theophilus to know the certainty of what He had been taught.  This kind of objective and critical thinking is desperately needed in the church. The good news is Luke leads the way by showing us why Jesus's coming, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death on the cross, resurrection and ascension are so crucial to our faith!
