It was Jesus who said first to pray: "Give us this day our daily bread", providing assurance to the one praying that God always does provide. Then He stated we should petition the Lord to "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors". (Matthew 6:12) This is such a powerful concept because it assumes that the person praying is in the process of forgiving people constantly so they can pray with confidence that God will forgive them. "as we forgive....." What a commitment and at the same time wonderful assurance. I can go ahead and forgive because I know I will be forgiven! Praise God!
