God is Omniscient. He knows everything. So why does he ask questions in the Bible? His desire is to build relationship with His people. God actively seeks His creation. Two times in the Bible God asks a pointed question. The first time was all the way back in Genesis, as He was promising to give Abraham and Sarah a son. They were well past child-bearing age, and yet God had promised the impossible. It was to Sarah that God spoke through the angel (Genesis 18:14). Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” God’s promise came true, although it was thought impossible. The second time was to the prophet Jeremiah in one of the darkest days of Israel’s history. The prophet was depressed about his circumstances as the armies of Babylon surrounded Jerusalem. The Lord gave him a promise of restoration and said in Jeremiah 32:27 ” I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” God delivered as the exiles returned 70 years later, just as he promised. (read about it in Ezra 1:1 and Nehemiah 1:1) What impossible thing do you need today? Hear the question of God to you “Is there anything too hard for me?” In confidence, we can trust Him to deliver, and trust Him to help! Praise God!
