In studying literature we are taught about the different motifs of struggle. First there is man vs. man, then man vs. nature, and finally man vs. himself. The Bible describes a different struggle. From man's point of view it's Man vs. God, but from God's point of view, it's "Stop fighting me and your life will be better." Zechariah understood that it was futile for mankind to try to do anything without God. Even more so, God's work needs to be done by God. The words of Zechariah:
Zech. 4:6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
