The Bible mentions plans 20 times. Here they are: Matt. 28:12; Luke 7:30; 23:51; Acts 2:23; 5:4, 38; 20:27; 27:39, 42–43; Rom. 1:13; 2 Cor. 1:15, 17; 10:2; Eph. 1:10–11; 1 Tim. 1:4; Rev. 17:17. As you'll discover as you hover over each reference, some of them are God's plans for us, others are bad plans made by humankind. Plans are just that, forecasts. Whether those forecasts are accurate or not depends on the decisions we make. Opportunities are a different thing. Sometimes opportunities are disguised as problems. By its own definition, opportunities have the element of surprise associated with them. The Bible gives us assurance that both the intentionality of our plans and the moments of opportunity are superintended by God. Paul described this to the Ephesians: Eph. 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord. May we put our Trust in His purposes for this Year.
