Is unique to the Bible. Why does it have so many lists of who begat who? I believe it's because the events described actually happened. People want to testify that they were there at important events. The lists of everyone who left Egypt is a perfect example. The book of Numbers contains several lists of genalogies, and it is a record of the wanderings in the wilderness after they left Egypt! When you search "genealogy" you get 50 hits in the NKJV (Gen. 5:1; 6:9; 10:1; 11:10, 27; 25:12, 19; 36:1, 9; Num. 1:20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42; Ruth 4:18; 1 Chr. 1:29; 4:33; 5:1, 7, 17; 7:5, 7, 9, 40; 9:1, 22; 26:31; 2 Chr. 12:15; 31:16–19; Ezra 2:59, 62; 8:1; Neh. 7:5, 64; Matt. 1:1; 1 Tim. 1:4; Titus 3:9; Heb. 7:3, 6)
The grandest genealogy was in Matthew 1:1-18! Genealogies convey truth! The truth of God building a relationship with His people! Praise God! var refTagger = { settings: { bibleVersion: "ESV" } }; (function(d, t) { var g = d.createElement(t), s = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0]; g.src = '//api.reftagger.com/v2/RefTagger.js'; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g, s); }(document, 'script'));
