The first time I heard the phrase "Pay Attention" was when I was sitting in a reading circle while a child in first grade. Mrs. Thornton said "Danny, pay attention". I would learn soon what it meant. In ancient Israel, things were not going well. The priest Eli had rebellious sons and the Bible tells us about a woman who was distressed that she couldn't bare a son. Her name was Hanna. Hanna prayed. The prayer is powerful and is found in 1 Samuel 2:1-10. The answer to that prayer was also powerful.
1Sam. 2:21 The LORD paid attention to Hannah’s need, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD. God would do amazing things through Samuel. I think it's fantastic that in 1 verse the writer tells us that God answered Hannah's prayer and how great it was, because he "grew up in the presence of the Lord" Praise God! var refTagger = { settings: { bibleVersion: "ESV" } }; (function(d, t) { var g = d.createElement(t), s = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0]; g.src = '//api.reftagger.com/v2/RefTagger.js'; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g, s); }(document, 'script'));
