the promise came true

It's a fact that all the prophecies about the coming Messiah in the Old Testament came true.  Jesus also made promises.  He promised that He would send another Comforter (John 14).  He promised that the Spirit would indwell believers (John 7:37-39).  He promised that before the disciples left Jerusalem, they would be filled with the Holy Spirit.  All those promises came true.  Luke records one that is a favorite of all who seek the indwelling Spirit.

Acts 2:4 Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them.

God's promise of the Spirit is for men and women, boys and girls.  The promise of God can come true in us!  Praise God!
