the purpose of the church

There is often much discussion about a church's vision or mission.  This has always been puzzling to me, because the purpose/mission/vision/goals of the church are clearly spelled out in Ephesians 4:11-16.  Another place is in 1 Corinthians 12:28.  After talking about the "same Spirit" that blesses the ministry of the church, Paul throws down it's mission/vision/purpose and goals.

1Cor. 12:28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. 
The ministry has been provided to build up every member of the Church  as it says in Ephesians 4:11-16.  It's as clear as can be.  Praise God!
