the Truth about bible sections

The word is PERICOPE.  It's a Bible study word that rarely makes it into everyday use.  It means passage.  A passage is a unit of thought within the Biblical text that has been translated.  The translators who bring the Bible to us in our own language put in section titles to help us as we read through. Most of the time the titles are helpful reminders to orient us to the text.  The important thing to remember is that these section titles are not the inspired word of God.  They are NOT present in the original text. Knowing this we can focus on the passage and let the word of God itself speak to us!  Praise God!
