When Paul was writing to the church at Corinth. He was also reflecting on how to live the Christian life in with the background of the Graeco Roman world. That world looked in many ways similar to this. (travel, commerce, international business, competing cultures and confusion about religion). At one point he said
that the walk was by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5;6). Later he summarized that whether he were alive on the earth or enjoying his heavenly reward, there was only one goal. "We make it our aim to please Him". (2 Cor 5:9) A purpose for now and for all time!
