Why read the Old testament?

It's the foundation for the New!  I like to refer to the New Testament as the victory lap of the Bible.  The whole 4000 year story of the Old Testament anticipates the wonder and glory of the new!  We know this for one main reason.  The author's of the New Testament appealed to its authority and quoted from it all the time.  Matthew, Hebrews, and Romans are just some examples.
